Scarlet Begonias isn’t just an awesome song by the Grateful Dead but was a driving force into us deciding on a name for our family restaurant.

 

You see Doug and Colleen shared a passion for great music and adventure. So while following around the Grateful Dead a Family Dream was born.

 

This dream incorporated their culinary degrees from Johnson & Wales and their love for people, music and great times. It’s something that is present in the atmosphere when you walk into Scarlet Begonias

 

So come on by to have some fantastic homemade food that is always made with love, and some great laughs with great people.

1982

Doug & Collen graduated from Johnson & Wales with Culinary degrees but decided they needed some adventure, so they decided to be DeadHeads!

1995

After following the Grateful Dead we decided to take our culinary knowledge and take on a new challenge. We opened our doors at 212 Maine St. Brunswick, ME on Black Friday.

2010

We moved to our new location at 16 Station Ave. in Brunswick, ME. This new location is right next to the train station and is located conveniently off of Maine St.

2020

To this day we are still serving great food & beer so make sure to come by and say hello!

Doug graduated from Johnson and Wales with a Culinary Degree. This is where he met his wife Colleen and they decided to pursue a life of adventure.

Chef & Owner

Colleen was also pursuing a degree at Johnson and Wales when they meet. They bonded over their love for the Grateful Dead.
